Had a pile of junk wood, lumber scraps, pieces of busted up furniture which had reached their useful end, i needed to get rid of. Means a whole lot more feeding the fire, and a whole lot less control over a steady temperature. This was a trial run.
    Outdoors, as long as you have a lid on your pot, you can use anything wooden which will burn.
    People coming over the plains in covered wagons, indigenous peoples way up in China, anyplace where life is off the beaten path, and there is no or little wood, dried animal dung is used for cooking fires.
